On January 10, 1984, Thomas W. Neer, an 18-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, was found dead from gunshot wounds at his residence on Lilley Avenue. Neer was found in the garage of his home, where he had suffered severe head injuries from a gunshot that led to his death. The case was immediately categorized as a homicide, and the Columbus Police Department initiated an investigation.
