Frank Black, aged 70, was found dead on June 20, 1988, in Lima, Ohio, after what appeared to be a violent home invasion. According to police reports, an unknown suspect entered Black's residence on South McDonel Street at around 11:10 p.m., likely with the intent of burglary. The intruder gained entry through a basement window, and was confronted by Black. A struggle ensued, during which Black sustained severe injuries, including trauma to his head and broken ribs.
