On August 15, 1995, Richard Waddel, a 36-year-old resident of Columbus, Ohio, was killed in his apartment on Lynwood Lane South. During the early morning hours, two unidentified individuals broke into his residence, demanding money. Richard Waddel attempted to escape but was shot by one of the intruders as he tried to flee. The perpetrators fled the scene immediately after the shooting, and no arrests have been made in connection with the crime.
