On August 8, 1996, Thelma Gebert, a 41-year-old woman from Springfield, Ohio, was found dead in Buck Creek, near Sherman Avenue. Earlier that day, she had reportedly gone for a walk after having a fight with her boyfriend but never returned. Her body was later discovered in the creek, showing signs of trauma, specifically bruising to the head and neck. The investigation determined that her death was a homicide, but despite law enforcement efforts, the case remains unsolved.
