On August 28, 2013, Brittany Stykes, a 22-year-old mother who was four months pregnant, was tragically shot and killed while driving her yellow Jeep along US 68 in Brown County, Ohio. Her 14-month-old daughter, Aubree, who was also in the vehicle, was shot in the head but miraculously survived the attack. Brittany was on her way to her father’s birthday celebration, but she never made it.
Instead, her vehicle was found crashed in the woods, and a passerby noticed the headlights and called 911 at around 8:11 PM. First responders arrived at the scene and found Brittany unresponsive, pronouncing her dead at the scene, while Aubree was rushed to a hospital for emergency care.
The investigation revealed that multiple gunshots had been fired at Brittany's vehicle, with at least two bullets striking her. There was nothing unusual in the footage from earlier that day when Brittany and her daughter were seen on security cameras in Georgetown. In September 2015, a home in Falmouth, Kentucky, was raided as part of the investigation, based on a witness statement that mentioned a potential suspect who allegedly used a blue light to mimic a police car and pull Brittany over.
