On the evening of January 23, 2014, Rudolph Calmese Jr., an 18-year-old young man, was found lying outside of his car near the intersection of Stanwood Road and Delmar Drive in Bexley, Ohio. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 9:08 PM, officers from both Bexley Police and Columbus Police discovered Rudolph suffering from two gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on January 24, 2014.
The details surrounding the shooting are still unclear, and the case remains unsolved. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has kept this homicide on their list of unsolved cases, and law enforcement continues to appeal to the public for any information that might help solve this crime. As an 18-year-old with much of his life ahead of him, Rudolph's death was a devastating loss to his family and community.
