On March 29, 2014, 19-year-old Shawndell Bryant was shot and killed in an incident that occurred on the South Side of Columbus, Ohio. The shooting took place around 2:00 a.m. in a parking lot near 645 East Morrill Avenue, adjacent to Lincoln Park. According to Columbus police, Bryant and another man confronted a 58-year-old individual, leading to a physical altercation during which the man, feeling threatened, shot Bryant in what he claimed was self-defense.
