Delrec Dwayne Avant, a 22-year-old from Momence, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed in Columbus, Ohio, on June 20, 2014. Avant and his friend, Dorcas Law, were traveling in a car on Roche Drive in the early morning hours when gunfire struck them both, leading to their vehicle crashing into nearby parked cars and a fire hydrant. Avant sustained critical injuries from gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Law was ...
