On October 24, 2016, Shawn Joseph McDaniel, aged 28, was shot and killed in Columbus, Ohio. The incident took place in the early morning hours around 4:40 a.m., when Columbus Police officers were dispatched to the 40 block of Terrace Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found McDaniel suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and unresponsive.
