Jordan Lecky was an 18-year-old man whose life was cut short by a single gunshot in Orange County, Florida. His family and friends remember him as a funny, kind-hearted, and loving person who had a gift for making people laugh. He was known for his infectious smile and his ability to light up any room he entered. Jordan was a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend who is deeply missed by all who knew him.
On the night of Saturday, October 17, 2026, a large group of nearly 100 people,
mostly teenagers, had gathered for a party near the swimming pool area of the Lakeside Villas apartments at 7950 Shoals Drive, near the Goldenrod neighborhood. Just after 11 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff's Office received a noise complaint about the gathering. As the first deputy arrived on the scene with emergency lights and sirens activated to disperse the crowd, a brawl broke out among some of the partygoers.
As people began to scatter, a single gunshot was fired from behind the complex's leasing office. The responding deputy discovered Jordan Lecky on the ground, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services were called, and Jordan was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries two days later, on Monday, October 19, 2026. It has not been made public whether Jordan was involved in the fight or was an innocent bystander.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office immediately launched a homicide investigation. Detectives found that although dozens of people were present when the shooting occurred, and many had been filming the fight on their cell phones, only two individuals remained at the scene to speak with law enforcement. These witnesses confirmed that a fight had broken out just before the shot was fired. Investigators believe numerous other witnesses saw what happened and may have crucial information that could lead to the shooter.
In an effort to generate leads, the Sheriff's Office released portions of bystander video footage showing the chaotic moments of the brawl leading up to the shooting. In the video, a gunshot can be heard, followed by screaming as the crowd flees. Authorities made a public plea, asking parents, especially those with teenagers in northeast Orange County or Seminole County, to watch the video with their children to see if they could identify anyone present. "An 18-year-old is dead, and dozens of people were right there when it happened," the Sheriff's Office stated. "Someone saw something. We need people to come forward to help us find the person who pulled the trigger."
Residents of the Lakeside Villas apartment complex had previously expressed concerns about frequent late-night parties held by teenagers in the common areas. One resident told a local news station she heard the gunshot and a girl screaming right after. As of October 2026, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with Jordan Lecky's death. The case remains an active and open investigation.
Detectives are urging anyone who was at the party, witnessed the fight, or has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is asking individuals to contact their non-emergency line at 407-836-4357. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Authorities have also provided a link for witnesses to directly upload any video they may have from that night.
