On December 3, 2017, at approximately 2:39 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to a call regarding a shooting at the Photo Shop Lounge, located at 1420 E. 5th Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Dominic Davon Williams, a Black male, inside the lounge suffering from a gunshot wound. Witnesses at the scene reported that a brief altercation had taken place inside the establishment shortly before the shooting occurred.

Emergency responders from CFD Medic 8 arrived and transported Dominic Williams to Grant Medical Center, where he underwent emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 7:44 a.m. by attending physicians. His death marked another tragic incident in a year that saw a significant rise in homicides in Columbus.

Dominic Williams was celebrating his 28th birthday at the time of the shooting. He was a Columbus City Schools bus driver and a father to a two-year-old child. His mother, Rhonda Williams, had already endured the loss of two other sons to violence—24-year-old Donavon Williams, who was shot the previous year, and 14-year-old Billy Dee, who was killed in a robbery in 1996. The devastating loss of Dominic added to her grief, leaving her struggling to cope with the repeated tragedies that had struck her family.

Despite investigations into the case, no arrests have been made in connection with Dominic Williams' killing. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in solving the case. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers continue to seek leads that could bring justice to Dominic Williams and his family.
