On October 4, 2012, sixty-one-year-old Keith Monroe Marshall lost his life in Los Angeles, California. Marshall, an African American man born around 1951, died under circumstances categorized as a homicide by local authorities. While coroner records confirmed the violent nature of his death, the specific physical trauma and exact mechanism of injury were not publicly detailed, leaving the precise weapon or method undisclosed.

The death occurred within the jurisdiction of the City of Los Angeles, a sprawling metropolis that grappled with hundreds of homicides that year. In 2012, the Los Angeles Police Department and surrounding county agencies investigated nearly three hundred homicides citywide. Many cases, particularly those involving older adults occurring without immediate witnesses or dramatic street altercations, received little to no initial news media attention, causing critical early details to remain confined to police files.

Following the discovery of Marshall's death, investigators from the local police division were assigned to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Detectives routinely search for physical evidence, conduct canvasses of nearby residences and commercial properties, and attempt to trace a victim's movements leading up to their final hours. In Marshall's case, however, investigators were met with scarce leads, and no public appeals detailing suspect descriptions or getaway vehicles were released to the public.

Marshall was sixty-one years old when he died, a mature adult whose life and community connections in Southern California came to an abrupt and violent end. Despite routine reviews of cold case files and coroner listings, no persons of interest have been named, and no suspects have ever been charged or prosecuted in connection with his killing.

More than a decade after Keith Monroe Marshall's death, the case remains completely unsolved. Detectives continue to encourage anyone who may possess information regarding Marshall's activities in early October 2012, or who knows anything about the individuals involved in his death, to come forward to law enforcement or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
