On a quiet Monday evening in Mount Holly, North Carolina, a dispute over a minor car accident escalated into a fatal encounter for 57-year-old Thomas Henkel Lark. The incident, which occurred on September 7, 2026, ended with Lark being shot and killed in his own driveway on Grandhaven Drive. His wife, Julie Lark, reported that her husband had just left their home to get groceries for a Labor Day meal when the confrontation took place.
The conflict began after a fender bender involving Lark and his neighbor, 25-year-old Jaelan Drum. According to a neighbor who witnessed the event, an argument erupted, which culminated in Drum allegedly pulling out a gun and shooting Lark. Julie Lark later recounted that a neighbor frantically knocked on her door, telling her, "He's been shot... Come quick, Ms. Julie."
