On the morning of September 14, 2009, 15-year-old Tiffany Wright was shot and killed while waiting for her school bus in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tiffany was eight months pregnant at the time and, despite her critical condition, doctors managed to deliver her baby girl, Aaliyah, who tragically died six days later. This devastating crime deeply impacted the community and left her family seeking answers for years.
The case remained unsolved for nearly a decade until Tiffany’s adoptive brother, Royce Anthony Mitchell, was arrested in 2018 in connection to her murder. It was revealed that Mitchell had a troubling history, as he had previously been accused of statutory rape, although DNA evidence later showed he was not the father of Tiffany’s unborn child.
