In the early morning hours of July 19, 2026, a tragic and violent encounter in Port St. Lucie, Florida, resulted in the death of 22-year-old Juliun "Juju" Stokes. What had begun as a night of bowling among friends ended in a driveway on Southeast Rivergreen Circle with gunfire, leaving two young men dead and another to grapple with the aftermath of a fatal confrontation born from mistaken identity and jealousy.
The incident unfolded when a group of friends returned to a residence, where they were met by Carl Loubeau. Investigators believe that Loubeau, driven by jealousy, was waiting for someone else. In a fatal error, he mistook Juliun Stokes for this other individual and initiated a deadly confrontation. In the ensuing chaos, Loubeau shot and killed Stokes. Another individual present, identified only as Walker and described as a cousin to the intended target, was also attacked by Loubeau. Walker, in an act of self-defense, returned fire and killed Loubeau.
Following an extensive investigation into the double shooting, detectives with the Port St. Lucie Police Department concluded that Loubeau was the aggressor who instigated the violent events. Based on the evidence, Walker's actions were deemed to be in lawful self-defense as he was trying to stop Loubeau's attack. Consequently, no criminal charges have been filed against Walker in connection with the deaths of Juliun Stokes and Carl Loubeau. The case has been officially ruled as a justifiable homicide in self-defense, bringing a legal conclusion to a night that ended two young lives and forever altered a third. Juliun Stokes was remembered by family and friends as a cherished young man whose life was senselessly cut short.
