On July 5, 2012, Francisco Morales-Sanchez, aged 41, was murdered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Morales-Sanchez's death was part of a series of violent incidents in the area, as he was shot and killed during an altercation. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide, which occurred during a time when the city was grappling with multiple violent crimes.
