Matthew Hawkins, a 39-year-old man from Charlotte, North Carolina, tragically lost his life in a senseless act of violence on July 10, 2012. Hawkins, a father and small business owner, was shot while working on a home he was renovating in the Belmont community. Despite handing over $20 to a robber during the encounter, he was shot in the face. He succumbed to his injuries two days later, on July 12, 2012.
