On August 2, 2013, 49-year-old Sacore Gray was found shot to death in her bedroom in her west Charlotte home. At the time of the murder, her 5-year-old niece was also present in the house but was unharmed. Gray, a caregiver, had no criminal history, leaving investigators puzzled about the motive behind her murder.
