Residents of the apartment complex were jolted awake by the sound of gunshots. Witnesses reported seeing people running and heard someone shouting, “I got him!” before discovering Jones lying on the ground, covered in blood.
Jones' cousin later revealed that he had been involved in a physical altercation earlier at Club 935, a nightclub in Charlotte. Authorities suspect that someone from the club followed him to the apartment complex, where the shooting took place. Despite a swift response by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, no arrests were made at the time, and the investigation is ongoing. His family remembers him as a talented musician who loved to make others laugh.
