On June 20, 2017, Jared Chatman, 29, was fatally shot in a double homicide at The Edge at NoDa apartments in Charlotte, North Carolina. Chatman and Sanchez McClure, 30, were both found dead at the scene after gunfire erupted around 11:30 p.m. One victim was discovered in the stairwell, while the other was just inside the doorway of the apartment. The incident was reportedly drug-related, but no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
This shooting was part of a night of violence in Charlotte, where three people were killed in two separate incidents. Charlotte police had been working on a crime-reduction initiative in the area where the shootings took place but have continued to seek information from the public to solve the case.
