On the evening of May 16, 2026, the life of 36-year-old Lewis Garrett of Awendaw, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. Deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 8600 block of North Highway 17 shortly after 10 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Garrett with apparent gunshot wounds. Charleston County EMS also responded to the scene and pronounced Garrett deceased.
