Francis Biegaj, a 52-year-old man from Spring Hill, Florida, died on April 7, 2026, after what authorities described as a neighborhood dispute over loud music turned into a fatal shooting. The confrontation unfolded on Gillian Circle shortly after 4:30 p.m., when a family member called 911 to report that Biegaj was bleeding from his arm and that it was not clear what had happened. When emergency crews arrived, Hernando County Fire Rescue began life-saving measures, while deputies noticed shell casings in the driveway and what appeared to be a gunshot wound near Biegaj’s left shoulder. He was taken for medical treatment, but he did not survive.
Investigators said the violence began with a complaint about loud music. Biegaj was reportedly working around or near his buggy, which neighbors said had a recently upgraded sound system, when his neighbor, 51-year-old Tony Deuser, became upset about the volume. According to investigators, Deuser told deputies he confronted Biegaj and asked him to turn the music down. Biegaj allegedly refused, told Deuser to leave the property, and the argument escalated. Authorities said Deuser then shot at Biegaj twice before returning to his own residence.
A witness told deputies they heard multiple gunshots and then saw Deuser walking away from Biegaj’s home toward a nearby residence while holding what appeared to be a pistol. Deputies responded to 89 Gillian Circle, where Deuser was believed to be, established a perimeter, and tried repeatedly to make contact with anyone inside. When those attempts were unsuccessful, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Crisis Response Team were called to the scene. After announcements were made, Deuser came out of the home and was taken into custody without incident.
Additional reporting described surveillance footage and statements from a search warrant affidavit that gave a fuller picture of the moments before and after the shooting. The footage reportedly showed Deuser in Biegaj’s driveway while loud music played from an ATV or buggy. Biegaj then approached him and told him to get out of the yard. Deuser allegedly reached into his pants pocket and shot Biegaj. Biegaj fled toward or into his garage, but Deuser allegedly continued firing in his direction before returning home. Biegaj’s wife reportedly said he came inside calling her name before collapsing, and she called 911 and attempted CPR.
Deuser was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center and held without bond. Investigators said the case remained active after the arrest. Court-related reporting indicated Deuser was scheduled for an arraignment before Judge Daniel Merritt Jr. in May, and later reporting said he was expected back in court on June 2. His defense attorney reportedly said Deuser would plead not guilty. If convicted of second-degree murder in Florida, he could face a severe sentence, including the possibility of life in prison; reporting also noted that firearm use could carry a significant mandatory minimum sentence.
Biegaj’s death left his family and neighborhood shaken. He was described by people who knew him as generous, kind, and deeply connected to his family. Reports said he left behind a wife, children, and grandchildren, and that his wife was battling cancer at the time of his death. Neighbors said the music from his buggy was not unusual and that he had been preparing for a family weekend when the confrontation happened. What began as an ordinary neighborhood irritation ended with one man dead, another facing a murder charge, and a Spring Hill community trying to make sense of how quickly a dispute over noise became fatal.
