In the early hours of Friday, April 3, 2026, Sally Vasquez, a 40-year-old woman, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on the South Side of San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred at her home in the 900 block of Burton Avenue. Vasquez was inside her residence when at least one individual in a white vehicle, possibly a Toyota Prius, opened fire on the house.
A bullet penetrated the walls of the home and struck her in the head.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but Vasquez was pronounced dead from her injuries. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office later ruled her death a homicide. At the time of the shooting, there were other individuals inside the house, but none of them were injured. Police discovered numerous bullet holes in the room where Vasquez was found and collected several shell casings from outside the residence.
According to witness statements, an argument had taken place outside the home with an unknown person shortly before the shooting. A male witness who lived in the same room as Vasquez reported this altercation to the police. Following the shooting, the white vehicle was seen fleeing the area.
As of now, the San Antonio Police Department's investigation is ongoing, and they are actively searching for the suspect or suspects involved in this fatal shooting. No arrests have been made in connection with the death of Sally Vasquez. Her obituary remembered her as a resilient woman who deeply cared for her nine children and two grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in family traditions.
