On Valentine's Day morning, February 14, 2026, Matthew Wade, a 28-year-old Caucasian male, was found shot to death in a home in Vass, North Carolina. Wade, a U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg, was discovered alongside his girlfriend, 21-year-old Kateryna Tovmash, who was also deceased from gunshot wounds. The Moore County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Daphne Lane at approximately 7:45 a.m. and found the couple deceased inside the home, in bed.
