In the early hours of January 28, 2026, the life of 18-year-old Yandel Fernandez was tragically cut short in a shooting in South Los Angeles. A Latino male, Fernandez was in the 3600 block of Sixth Avenue when the fatal incident occurred at approximately 12:49 a.m.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a call of shots fired and discovered that Fernandez had been shot in the chest following an argument with another 18-year-old man.
The individual who fired the shot fled the scene, and his identity remains unknown. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and transported Fernandez to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
