In the early morning hours of December 9, 2012, the sound of gunfire pierced the quiet of a Binghamton, New York neighborhood. When police responded to a 'shots fired' call on Chapin Street, they discovered a grim scene. A trail of blood led them to the backyard of a residence on Gerard Avenue, where they found 38-year-old Daniel M. Miley lying face down. He had been shot.

Miley, a male, was rushed to Wilson Hospital for emergency medical treatment. For eleven days, he fought for his life ...
