In a tragic turn of events on a Saturday afternoon in Lake City, Florida, 27-year-old Black / African American female Tina Farmer was killed. On January 3, 2026, law enforcement responded to a 911 call about a shooting at approximately 4:07 p.m. on Southwest Journey Court. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Farmer deceased with a gunshot wound to her head.
Witnesses at the scene provided information that quickly led authorities to establish a perimeter in a wooded area nearby as they searched for the armed suspect. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office issued a shelter-in-place alert for the surrounding community while the search was underway. Multiple agencies, including SWAT, K-9 units, and drone teams from the Lake City Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Wildlife Commission, and the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office, assisted in the extensive search.
A few hours later, shortly after 7 p.m., the suspect was located deceased in the woods. He was identified as 19-year-old Tyndale M. Mullins, the victim's cousin. The investigation into what led to the fatal shooting is ongoing. All family members were notified of the tragic incident.
