Avery Newman, a 36-year-old Black man, was fatally shot on the evening of January 11, 2026, in the Manchester Square neighborhood of Los Angeles. The incident was a mass shooting that left four other individuals wounded. The Los Angeles County coroner's office later confirmed Newman's identity and ruled his death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
