On the morning of December 11, 2025, Prince George's County Police officers responded to a residence in Temple Hills, Maryland, following reports of a shooting. Arriving at the home in the 6900 block of Westchester Court around 8:50 a.m., first responders discovered 45-year-old female Adia Lipscomb Mingo inside, suffering from traumatic injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives immediately launched an investigation, determining early on that the shooting was not a random act of violence but rather a targeted incident.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities identified the victim's son, 24-year-old Damari Lipscomb, as the primary suspect in the slaying. Police allegations suggest that the fatal shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the mother and son. Following the incident, the suspect fled the state, prompting a multi-agency manhunt that involved the Prince George’s County Police Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Days later, Damari Lipscomb was located and apprehended in Pennsylvania with the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police and local law enforcement in Pittsburgh. He was taken into custody and held in a Pennsylvania detention facility while awaiting extradition back to Maryland. He faces charges of first-degree murder and other related offenses in connection with the death of his mother.
