On the night of December 17, 2025, a violent disturbance erupted at a residence in the Oakleaf Plantation community of Orange Park, Florida, resulting in the untimely death of 20-year-old female Jordyn Forrestier. Forrestier, an active-duty U.S. Navy sailor, was at her shared home on Hanging Moss Drive when the situation unfolded late that Wednesday.
According to reports from the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the incident began with a verbal dispute involving the wife of one of Forrestier's roommates who had come to visit. The argument reportedly escalated quickly, moving from the interior of the home to the front yard where it turned into a physical altercation involving the visitor and the residents.
During the struggle outside, the male roommate, identified as 22-year-old Taylor Marques Lomax, allegedly intervened by retrieving a firearm. Investigators stated that Lomax fired approximately 30 rounds during the chaos, striking Forrestier and another 21-year-old Navy sailor who also lived at the residence. When deputies arrived at the scene shortly after 11:15 p.m., they discovered both victims in the yard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of emergency responders, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officers arrested Taylor Marques Lomax at the property without further incident. He was subsequently transported to the Clay County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of second-degree murder and held without bond. In the aftermath, Lomax's wife claimed in media interviews that the shooting was an act of defense, asserting that she was being attacked by the roommates at the time her husband opened fire. However, authorities proceeded with the murder charges based on the evidence collected during the investigation, noting that all three primary individuals involved were service members assigned to Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
