In what authorities are describing as a tragic murder-suicide, 74-year-old Martha Alonso was found deceased in her Palm Coast, Florida home on November 12, 2025. Her husband, 85-year-old Julio Alonso, was also found dead at the scene. The couple had resided in their Pinelynn Lane home for 37 years, having moved from West New York, New Jersey, in 1988.
Concern arose when the Alonsos' son, who lives in Miami, was unable to reach his parents by phone or text.
He requested that the Flagler County Sheriff's Office conduct a welfare check at their residence. A neighbor informed deputies that they had last seen the couple on the Tuesday prior, leaving for the hospital. The son had also mentioned to authorities that his mother, Martha, suffered from dementia and had recently had a fall.
Upon their arrival at the home on Wednesday evening, deputies were granted entry by a hospice nurse. Inside, they discovered the bodies of Martha and Julio Alonso in their bedroom. The preliminary investigation by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office indicates that Julio Alonso shot his wife before taking his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Major Case and CSI units are continuing to investigate the incident. There have been no arrests, and the sole suspect is the deceased husband, Julio Alonso.
