On the morning of October 30, 2025, a distressing scene unfolded on Interstate 5 in rural Gold Hill, Oregon, leading to the death of Steven Jason Worthington, a 47-year-old White male from Shady Cove. Emergency dispatchers began receiving multiple calls around 8:01 a.m. about an injured man, later identified as Worthington, attempting to flag down vehicles for help near mile marker 42.5.
