In the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the life of 41-year-old Elizabeth Rose Bolin of Rock Hill, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. Responding to a call at a home on Mandarin Drive around 5:25 a.m., York County sheriff's deputies discovered Bolin with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to Piedmont Medical Center, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
The incident, which escalated from an argument, marked the seventh homicide in the York County sheriff's jurisdiction for 2025.
Authorities quickly identified a suspect, William Gatlin Robinson, 35, of Clover, who was known to Bolin. Friends revealed that Robinson was Bolin's ex-boyfriend and had a history of being abusive, stalking her at her home and at the York County bar where she worked. In an effort to protect herself, Bolin had secured a restraining order and a no-contact order against him. Despite these measures, the situation tragically escalated. The York County Sheriff's Office confirmed they had been called to Bolin's residence on six prior occasions.
Following the fatal shooting, William Gatlin Robinson was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a person with a criminal conviction. He is currently being held at the York County jail without bail. An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. Robinson has a lengthy criminal record, with approximately 50 prior charges, although many were for traffic violations. An earlier attempted murder charge against him had been dismissed.
Elizabeth Bolin was remembered by friends as a unique and joyful individual who never met a stranger and had an infectious laugh. She was a mother and grandmother, survived by her two daughters and three grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held the following week.
