Banwari Godara, 23, male, was identified by the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office as the victim of a fatal shooting on the night of October 18, 2025. Authorities said Godara had been living in Fresno and was originally from San Jose. The identification was announced on October 20, and detectives with the Sheriff’s Office assumed the investigation after initial response by Fresno police.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred at a truck repair yard in the 5400 block of South Cedar Avenue, in an unincorporated area of Fresno County. Around 8 p.m., two wounded men left the yard in a vehicle with another person and stopped at a shopping center near Shaw and Brawley avenues, where an urgent care is located. Both men were taken to Community Regional Medical Center; Godara died there while the second victim, age 21, was treated and released.
Detectives processed the truck yard as the primary crime scene and collected evidence, but authorities have not announced any arrests. As of the most recent updates, investigators had not identified any suspects or persons of interest, and a motive had not been released. A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the case appeared to be an isolated incident involving people who knew one another, though the circumstances that brought them together and led to the gunfire remained unclear.
