Chad Wayne Ashford, a 54-year-old male from Mathews, Virginia, was killed by gunfire on July 10, 2025. Firefighters responding the following night to a blaze at a residence on John Clayton Memorial Highway pulled two people from the burning home; both were pronounced dead at the scene.
