In the late evening of Sunday, May 18, 2025, a gathering in Sheldon, South Carolina, took a tragic turn, ending the life of 33-year-old Rashaun Snell. Snell was attending a 'Sunday Funday' party at a residence on Kelly Road when a verbal altercation erupted between him and another man. The dispute escalated, resulting in Snell being shot multiple times.
When deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene just before 8 p.m., they found a large crowd and discovered Snell deceased inside the home from his gunshot wounds.
The man who allegedly shot Snell, identified as 32-year-old Unique Stinson Ford of Sheldon, reportedly fled the scene in a green sedan immediately after the shooting. His escape was short-lived, as he crashed the vehicle in a neighboring yard and continued his flight on foot, with witnesses reporting he was carrying what appeared to be a pistol. Multiple people at the party told investigators they saw Ford enter the house to get a cigarette before he and Snell exchanged words, a confrontation that quickly led to the fatal gunfire.
Following the incident, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office obtained warrants for Ford's arrest on charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and aggravated breach of peace. The day after the shooting, on Monday, May 19, 2025, Unique Ford turned himself into the authorities. He was subsequently booked at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
