Jakari Simmons Ross, an 18-year-old male from Pineville who was Black / African American, was found dead after a shooting that culminated in a wreck on Gabe Road on June 19, 2025. Jakari Simmons Ross, age 18, was discovered by deputies inside a wrecked vehicle after first reports to dispatch described what looked like a car crash; investigators later determined the collision was the result of a shooting and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death as a homicide.
