Teddy Wataise Edmonds, 45, a Black male from Mebane, North Carolina, was shot and killed on the evening of Friday, June 13, 2025, in the Cambridge Park subdivision on the south side of the city. Officers were dispatched around 6:50 p.m. to a home in the 1100 block of Bateman Place, where they found one victim inside the residence; records and incident logs list the location as 1122 Bateman Place.
In the immediate aftermath, police emphasized that the shooting appeared isolated to the home and that there was no ongoing threat to the public. Early reports noted that the victim and the person later arrested knew each other, a detail investigators said shaped their understanding of what unfolded inside the residence.
