In the late morning of a summer Saturday, the quiet of an Astor Avenue apartment building in Newark, New Jersey, was shattered by the sounds of screams and what neighbors believed were gunshots. Inside her home, 45-year-old Shaneequah Williams, a Black/African American woman, was fatally shot on August 9, 2025.
