In the summer of 2025, a family tragedy unfolded in Greenville, Mississippi, leaving one brother dead and the other facing a murder charge. On the evening of Wednesday, July 16th, police responded to a call about a shooting at a home in the 700 block of Cotton Drive. Inside the residence, they discovered 27-year-old Gervonte Johnson lying in a hallway with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to Delta Health Systems, but his life could not be saved. Gervonte Johnson was a Black male.
