Wagoner, an attorney at the Hall County Public Defender's Office, was discovered inside his workplace on that Monday morning just before 9 a.m. His life was cut short by what authorities determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The discovery of his body by colleagues prompted a response from the Hall County Sheriff's Department, who confirmed the nature of his death.
In the wake of the tragic event, details emerged about the personal struggles that preceded Wagoner's death. Court records indicated that he had been facing legal troubles. In May, he was convicted of violating a harassment protection order that had been filed by an ex-girlfriend. He was serving probation for this offense. Further complicating his situation, Wagoner had reportedly attempted to contact the woman again in early June, which led a judge in Douglas County to issue a new warrant for his arrest on Friday, June 20, 2025, just days before his death. Following an investigation into the circumstances of his death, law enforcement officials did not identify any suspects and no arrests were made. The case was characterized as a suicide, and authorities did not pursue a criminal investigation into his death.
