On a tragic day in late August of 2025, the quiet community of Watertown, Massachusetts, was shaken by a devastating event that unfolded within a home on Boyd Street. It was here that 35-year-old Karine Asatryan, a White female, lost her life in a violent act that also claimed two others. The grim discovery was made on Sunday, August 31st, when police conducted a welfare check at the residence and found three individuals deceased.
Subsequent investigation by the Middlesex District
Attorney's Office and the Watertown Police Department revealed the incident to be a murder-suicide. Authorities reported that Karine Asatryan and 80-year-old Nadia Abrahamian were fatally shot by 31-year-old David Minasvand. After shooting the two women, Minasvand then turned the gun on himself, dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Asatryan and Minasvand were discovered on the first floor of the home, while Abrahamian was found on the second floor. All three individuals resided in the home, which was owned by Abrahamian and her late husband.
The nature of the relationships within the home added another layer of sorrow to the incident. Asatryan and Minasvand were in a relationship and lived with their young daughter in one part of the multi-family home, while helping to care for the elderly couple who owned it. This arrangement was described by those who knew them as a "blended Armenian family." The couple's one-year-old child was not present at the time of the incident and was found unharmed. The tragedy left the young girl an orphan. The weapon used by Minasvand was a legally obtained. 45-caliber pistol, for which he had received a license the previous year. The investigation concluded that there were no outstanding suspects, and no arrests were made as the perpetrator was deceased. The event was deemed an isolated incident with no further threat to the public.
