In the summer of 2025, the life of 19-year-old Latoneyus Tasadrian Ware Jr., known as TJ, was tragically cut short. On June 17, the young man was shot and killed at the Red Rose Inn on U.S. Highway 78 in his hometown of Bremen, Georgia. An exchange of gunfire reportedly took place inside the hotel room Ware had rented. Authorities were quick to launch a homicide investigation that spanned multiple jurisdictions. In the immediate aftermath, family and friends remembered TJ as a kind individual as the community mourned the sudden loss.
The investigation into the shooting saw rapid developments. In the hours following the incident, two individuals were seen fleeing the motel. A police pursuit ensued, ending in Villa Rica where the two men were apprehended with gunshot wounds. After receiving treatment at an Atlanta-area hospital, they were taken into custody. These individuals were later identified as brothers, 23-year-old Joshua Blair and 20-year-old Michael Blair. A Haralson County grand jury indicted the two on seventeen counts, including murder, aggravated assault, and home invasion. They are being held in the Haralson County Jail without bond.
While two suspects were in custody, the Bremen Police Department's investigation revealed that a third individual was involved. This suspect is known only by the nickname “Mook.” Investigators believe he met Ware at the hotel room along with the Blair brothers, whom police described as acquaintances of the victim. While a definitive motive for the shooting has not been established, authorities have stated that it was not gang-related. Police have publicly appealed for help in identifying 'Mook' and have released surveillance video footage of him. The search for this third suspect remains active, with authorities believing he may be in the Atlanta area. The case is an ongoing homicide investigation.
