Davell Holden, 16, who was Black/African American and male, left home on the evening of August 2, 2025, walking toward a friend's house in South Holland, Illinois. Just after 7 p.m., gunfire shattered the calm near 160th Place and Drexel Avenue. Responding officers found Davell on a front lawn; he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died.
