In a quiet Woodstock subdivision, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy, leaving a family shattered and a community in shock. On a Sunday evening at their home on Daventry Crossing, 48-year-old Tenisha Williams was shot and killed. The incident, which unfolded inside their house, began as a family argument that took a violent turn.
Her husband, 47-year-old Kelvin Williams, was identified as the suspect.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's office, during the dispute, Kelvin allegedly first attempted to shoot his 16-year-old stepson. When that attempt failed, he then turned the weapon on his wife, Tenisha, fatally wounding her. Also present in the home at the time was another child, aged four. Neither of the children were physically harmed during the incident.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Tenisha Williams deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Kelvin Williams was arrested at the home and taken into custody. He has since been charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and first-degree cruelty to children. He is being held at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without bond. Neighbors described the couple as seemingly cordial, expressing their surprise and dismay at the violent turn of events. The two children were placed in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
