In the predawn hours of June 14, 2025, 28-year-old Evelyn Valdes, a woman from Miami, was fatally struck by gunfire while out in Wynwood celebrating the week of her 28th birthday. Around 3 a.m., near Northwest 23rd Street and First Court, Miami police officers confronted an armed man amid a street disturbance; shots were fired, crowds scattered, and two people were mortally wounded: the armed man and Evelyn Valdes.
