Frederick Sess, a 78-year-old white male of Russian origin, was brutally murdered on June 30, 1960, in Astoria, Queens County, New York. His body was discovered on July 4, 1960, in the modest home he shared with another man, 62-year-old John Rescigno. Sess had sustained multiple skull fractures, and his face was crushed with a whiskey bottle.
