On March 24, 2001, the body of Cassandra Walker, a 19-year-old African American female, was discovered in Washington Park, Illinois. Her death was part of a disturbing pattern of murders targeting vulnerable women in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Cassandra was one of several victims linked to a serial killer who preyed on sex workers, many of whom were struggling with addiction and poverty. These women were often lured with promises of money or drugs, only to be tortured and killed.
