On May 26, 2010, Miowne Obote, a two-month-old infant, died at Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas due to a severed umbilical catheter. The Clark County Coroner ruled her death a homicide. The catheter, used for essential medical procedures, was found to have been severed, leading to severe bleeding and a lack of oxygen to the brain. Although this incident was part of a larger investigation into catheter disruptions at the hospital, no criminal charges were filed.
