Ninety-two-year-old James H. “Jim” Fair, a male resident of Chicora, Butler County, Pennsylvania, died late on the morning of August 6, 2022 at Chicora Medical Center while surrounded by family. Born in Bruin on February 17, 1930, he had made Chicora his home for many years and was well-known in nearby Hornertown.
Reports describe the 92-year-old man's death as peaceful, with no mention of injury, accident, or other suspicious circumstance.
Because local death notices frame the event as a natural passing in a medical facility, law-enforcement agencies did not classify it as a crime scene. Consequently, there has been no police investigation, no suspects, and no arrests connected to Mr. Fair's death.
During his lifetime the male nonagenarian was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1947 to 1951 and later remained active with the American Legion post in Chicora. After military service he spent decades at WITCO's barrel house in Petrolia, retiring in 1992. Friends and relatives recall his enjoyment of country and gospel music and long porch conversations, especially when they involved his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family survivors include a daughter, several grandchildren extending into great- and great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty A. Merchant Fair, and by several siblings, yet remained deeply connected to community institutions such as Harvest Community Church and local veterans' groups. With the death ruled natural and peaceful for the 92-year-old male, authorities closed the matter without criminal inquiry, leaving no suspects or arrests to report.
